Ultra Music Festival is saying goodbye to Miami after 21 years.
The festival and Miami City Council were going to have a meeting today to discuss the coming years. But the festival has “voluntarily terminated” its license in an open letter to fans, prior to the meeting. The announcement was made on Twitter. Ultra’s letter did say that they are “now finalizing a new South Florida location.”
Details about next year’s Ultra Music’s location will be released soon via Ultra.
The first Ultra Miami Festival took place in 1999 at Collins Park in Miami Beach. It later relocated in 2001 to the Bayfront Park, where it has annually taken place until 2018. In 2019, the now three-day festival was forced to move to the Virginia Keys when the Miami City Council turned down the vote to return to Bayfront Park.
