If there is anyone who is undoubtedly at the top of the food chain in the electronic dance music scene, it is definitely Calvin Harris. The Scottish producer has sat at Forbes’ list of highest-paid DJ’s for six consecutive years.
Harris has been a powerhouse, with production credits on pop, hip-hop and R&B records. However, it came to surprise to many fans when they asked the “We Found Love” producer about his return to his EDM roots.
Harris took to his Twitter mentions to comment on the current state of EDM and where his music will reside in the near future.
EDM has been sad, slow songs for years now. Doesn’t have anything in common with the music I love to make. 2010-2014 edm was more house influenced to me. Anyway now I’m out the bubble and making big records with amazing singers that sound like house music to me… 🤷🏼♂️ https://t.co/D3UQc8vWFx

In the minds of many, Calvin really hits the nail on the head here. The EDM that has been taking the world by storm as of late has been pushing for a pop feel with slower drops and more downtempo feel, creating a sense of the same sound being repeated over and over again.
